Chewbacca (Solo)

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:

Chewbacca (or “Chewie”, as he was known by his friends) was a legendary Wookiee from Kashyyyk and co-pilot of Han Solo’s ship, the Millennium Falcon. He was the son of Attichitcuk, the husband of Mallatobuck, and the father of Lumpawaroo. (Source Wookieepedia)

Body Suit

Required Details

1. Complete hair suit using natural or synthetic fibers, either tied or using National Fibre Technology Hair. Faux fur or fun fur is not acceptable, as it is not long enough. No yarn or shag carpet Wookiees. The Rubies Supreme Edition Chewbacca suits are NOT acceptable even with modification.
2. Hair must be blonde overall with a grey/dark brown mix on the shoulders, back of head, upper back, and outer thighs.
3. Hair must average at least 6″ / 15 cm or longer, but 8-10 inch / 20-26 cm long hair is preferred.
4. Hair must have a wave/curl to it.
5. Complete coverage is required; no bald spots or exposed skin/undersuit.
6. Arm length must be proportionate to that of the overall body look. No T-REX Arms.

Mask

Required Details

1. Mask hair must match the suit.
2. The mask must completely cover the head and neck, without completely obscuring the shape of the shoulders.
3. The eyes, a smooth black nose, and a large jaw/muzzle must all be clearly visible. No flat faces.
4. A slight mustache like feature of the same colour as the dark brow/grey mix must be present as well. The mouth must have a slight frown when closed.
5. The mask hair must be smooth and well groomed, not bushy, so that the mask’s shape and structure are clear.
6. Static masks must not be frozen in an opened position. All static mouths must be fully closed.
7. Eye makeup (shades of black or brown) must be worn around the eyes and completely cover any exposed skin.

Optional Details:

1. Although a functioning jaw and/or lip snarl is not required, the skin and lips of any mechanical masks must appear as one piece, rather than a separated jaw and face. This refers only to the mask’s outward appearance, not the underskull. Costumers should be aware that mechanical jaws and lips are complex projects requiring purpose-built components using special materials. They cannot simply be added to an existing latex rubber mask. Consult the costuming resources and fellow Wookiee costumers for advice on this project.

Hands

Required Details

1. Dark brown, gray, or black gloves must be worn.
2. There must be enough overlap between the gloves and the wrists of the hair suit that no skin is exposed.
3. Gloves may be made of leather, vinyl, cloth, or rubber.

Optional Details:

1. Claws/nails are encouraged, but not required.

Toes

Required Details

1. Feet must be completely covered with hair except for the bottom and the toes.
2. Feet are either brown or black with black toenails
3. Feet must have 5 toes with visible claws/toenails

Bandolier

Required Details

1. Dark brown leather or faux leather bandolier, approximately 3″ / 7.5 cm wide with a narrow center strap holding the cylinders in place.
2. The ends of the bandolier should be tapered and attach to a medium-sized leather or suede pouch with a large flap cover.
3. The bandolier hangs from the left shoulder across the torso with the pouch resting on the right thigh and a strap over the right shoulder meeting at mid-torso
4. The back has two cylinders on the right strap, none on the left
5. Left front strap has 2 horizontal cylinders at the top, empty loop, then 2 more horizontal cylinders followed by 2 empty loops just above where the right strap connects. There is a 3″ / 7.5 cm gap followed by two rows of a pair of vertical cylinders just above the hip pouch.
6. The Right front strap has a small pouch just below the shoulder followed by 2 horizontal cylinders, an empty loop, and a third cylinder
