CHARACTER DESCRIPTION

Queen Apailana was the elected ruler of the Naboo by the end of the Clone Wars. She was the first ruler of the Emperor’s home planet of Naboo during the birth of the Galactic Empire. She was seen publicly mourning Senator Padme Amidala at her funeral. (Source: Star Wars Databank)

REQUIRED ITEMS

[box]Undertunic

 

Required Details:

  1. Kimono-style undertunic in a dusty rose-pink color. Fabric has a light, woven texture.
  2. Tunic has long, fitted sleeves that extend just past the wrist. Sleeves are decorated with many narrow knife pleats.
  3. Tunic has a wrapped collar decorated with three narrow knife pleats.
  4. Tunic is wrapped around the torso, left side over the right.

Optional Details:

  1. Sleeves close under the wrist with three antique gold filigree buttons.

Required Details:

  1. Floor-length hakama or skirt made of a medium lavender/pink cross-dyed silk dupioni or dupioni-like fabric.
  2. Hakama/skirt is finely pleated with according or knife pleats on the front, with the visible edge of each pleat facing the center front.

Optional Details:

  1. The hakama/skirt fabric is cut on the bias.

Required Details:

  1. Floor-length kimono of a warm, golden silver metallic brocade in a geometric pattern (heron’s feather pattern recommended). Fabric is medium- to heavy-weight.
  2. Kimono has a small train in back.
  3. Kimono is wrapped around the body left side over the right.
  4. Large, rounded wing-shaped sleeves that hang down to just above the knees. Sleeves open along the inside edge at roughly waist to hip height for an arm hole.
  5. The outer seam of the sleeves is trimmed with dark purple piping in the same fabric as the obi or kimono collar.
  6. The lower front edges of the kimono are folded back at an angle from the waist to the bottom edge and tacked down to expose the hakama/skirt.
  7. The kimono has a dark purple collar of velvet or velveteen. Collar is embroidered with silver and gold Naboo symbols.

Optional Details:

  1. Kimono sleeves are lined with a medium to dark lavender fabric.

Required Details:

  1. Wide obi made of a dark purple silken brocade or jacquard.
  2. Obi has irregular pleat-like folds, pressed downwards.
  3. Obi has a firm structure around the body.
  4. Obi has a large vertical loop in the back, resembling a Nagoya-style obi “drum.” Obi drum has irregular pleat-like folds, pressed outward.
  5. Obi closure is hidden beneath the drum loop.

Optional Details:

  1. Jacquard fabric has scattered fan pattern or similar texture.

Required Details:

  1. Art Deco-like silver fan headdress with large half egg cups over each ear. The base of the fan shape has rectangular openings cut through it at regular intervals.
  2. The half-eggs over the ears are decorated with symmetrical, organic, filigree designs.
  3. A fan of fluffy light gray feathers (large ostrich feathers or many small marabou feathers suggested) is mounted into the silver fan of the headdress. The central stalks of the feathers are mostly hidden by the fluff of the feathers.
  4. Thick gray lace appliqués covered in many pearl beads are worn over the forehead, top of the head, and back of head, underneath the silver headdress. The pearl beads range in size and in color from light gray to silver to dark hematite. Some beads may be iridescent.
  5. Many long, beaded strands hang down from the lace appliqués in the front and back. These strands include a mix of large to small pearl beads and long to short bugle beads. These beads range in color from light gray to silver to dark hematite. Some beads may be iridescent.
  6. The center front strands and half of the side back strands are twisted up and around the half-eggs. Some of these twisted strands hang down at the side of the eggs. The side front strands, half of the side-back strands, and the center back sections hang down.

Optional Details:

  1. Feathers may have a slight lavender tint.
  2. Depending on the size of the wearer’s head, the ears may not be fully covered by the eggs.
  3. The largest beads are lightest in color and the smallest beads are darkest in color. There may be color variation among the beads of each size and shape.

Required Details:

  1. Low-heeled matching tailored pumps or flats.

Required Details:

  1. Hair is pulled back into several long, thin/medium braids (box braids recommended). Braids are held together in a ponytail at the center back of the head. Braids are grouped into 3-4 clusters of 3-4 braids apiece. The top cluster is roughly butt-length, and the lower clusters are each slightly longer than the one above.
  2. Each cluster of braids is tied off with a band of small silver, gray, and hematite beads.
  3. Naturally occurring hair colors only (black or dark brown recommended); no bangs.

Optional Details:

  1. If a wig or extensions are used, they must be high quality and look like real hair.

Required Details:

  1. White make-up on the face, neck, and hands. Makeup is applied smoothly
  2. Light blue upper lip and white lower lip with a light blue stripe down the center.
  3. Beginning 1” / 2.5 cm above each eyebrow is a long thin light to medium blue line. Line is drawn down over the eyelid and along each cheek, ending just above the nostril-level. The lines are aligned with the center of each eye.
  4. There is a light to medium blue dot just below the end of each line.

Optional Details:

  1. Makeup is not completely opaque and has a slight ivory quality.
