CHARACTER DESCRIPTION

Rebel Alliance technicians, also known as Rebel technicians, or ground tech were technicians that were part of the Alliance to Restore the Republic’s support staff. They were employed to look after technical equipment such as starfighters and the droids. They also operated the personnel carriers, which they nicknamed “chariots”.

I: Rebel Ground Crew:
Character Description
Rebel Ground Crews are responsible for servicing Starfighters, refuelling, rearming and maintaining them to keep them flying

Required Details
– Tan medium-to-heavy weight matte fabric with no sheen one-piece flight suit/coveralls. Heavy cotton twill recommended.
– Flight suit has a front zipper that is hidden by a strip of the same material as the flight suit that is approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide.
– Flight suit is void of visible zippers or snaps.
– Mandarin-style collar with pointed tab closure, closing from wearer’s left to right with the exposed tab extending to the right side of the neck.
– There is a horizontal seam or double-topstitched line that runs across the upper chest, but does not extend around the back.
– Code cylinder pocket on outside of the wearer’s upper middle left arm, centered to the shoulder seam, divided into 5 pen sleeves. Pocket is rectangular, width is approximately 5 inches (12.5 cm) with seams between code cylinders 1inch (2.5 cm) apart, height is slightly taller than the width by approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm).
– Com pad pocket is on the outside of wearer’s left forearm above the wrist, centered to the shoulder seam and placed approximately halfway between the wrist and elbow. An open window is located in the middle of the pocket, border approx. 1 inch (2.5 cm) around all sides around the window.
– Rectangular pocket with a rectangular flap closure on upper-middle of wearer’s right arm, centered to the shoulder seam. Width is nearly the width of arm if lying flat, height is taller than the width by a couple inches.
– Flight suit has two upper thigh pockets with curved openings, one on each leg, positioned close to the outer side seam of pant leg. Width is approx. ¾ the width of the pant leg lying flat, height is taller than width by a couple inches.
– Flight suit has two middle thigh pockets with rectangular flap closures, one on each leg, positioned immediately below upper thigh pockets and similarly close to outer side seam of pant leg. Width is the same as width of upper thigh pockets, height is taller than width by approx. 1 inch (2.5 cm).
– Flight suit has two shin pockets with rectangular flap closures, one on each leg, positioned immediately below knee and similarly close to outer side seam of pant leg. Size is the same as middle thigh pockets.
– All rectangular flap closures have a height that covers the top ¼ height of the pocket.
– Flight Suit is worn over Shoes/Boots, covering them to approx. ankle height.

Shoes

Required Details
– Black Leather or Leather like Shoes with rounded toes (Chelsea Boots are acceptable).
– Shoes are smooth in finish.
– Shoes have conservative heels.
– Void of any visible laces, straps or buckles.
– Shoes are covered by the legs of the Flightsuit to approx. ankle height.

Optional: Boots
– Calf high black leather or leather like material.
– Normal leather grain/texture/lines are acceptable.
– Free of laces, decorative stitching, buckles on the instep or any other embellishments.
– Boots may have a single adjustment strap at the top outside of the boot, with the buckle no wider than 1 inch (2.5 cm).
– The buckle need not be functional.
– Jackboot buckles should not be shiny/can be painted dingy grey or gun-metal color.
– Hobnails may be present on the front of the jackboots.
– Tread on the soles and heels is acceptable.
– Zippers on the inside of the boot are acceptable, so long as they are concealed by the same material as the boot.
– German “jack boot” (Knobelbecher) style boots are most canon.
– Legs of the Flightsuit cover the Boots to approx. ankle height.

Belt

Required Details
– Belt is made of Olive Green Webbing, approx. 2 inches (5 cm) wide.
– Belt has a British Roll Pin style Buckle.
– Belt has one or two strips, each of 6 Flare Holders, 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, made of Webbing in the same color as the Belt.
– Belt Flare Holders can be either empty or contain 1-6 Belt Flares each.
– Belt Flares are made of round material (metal or painted to appear as made of metal), approx, 2 inches (5 cm) long and approx. 0.4 inches (1 cm) wide.

Code Cylinder

Required Details
– One single Code Cylinder is worn in any of the “pen sleeves” in the Codecylinder Pocket.
– Code Cylinder is silver metal or a material that is finished with a silver metal-like appearance.
– Code Cylinder shank is approximately 3.25 inches (8.25 cm).
– Code Cylinder heads have a flaring disc detail at top that is approximately ¾ inch (2 cm).

Required Details
– Metal band over the center of the head from ear to ear.
– One side of the band ends in a box, approx, 2 inches (5 cm) long, 1 inch (2.5 cm) high and 0.4 inches (1 cm) deep. with a bevel at the lower back end.
– Bevel connects to a metal rod, connecting to a round earpiece.
– Back part of the box connects to a flat rectangular “cushion” plate, approximately the same size as the box.
– On the lower part of the box is a grey connection cable, running down the front of the flightsuit. The cable can be secured to the flightsuit using a clamp.
– On the bottom of the box is a grey microphone boom with a black microphone.
– Side of the box has two black rectangles.
– Opposite side of the headband connects to a horizontal flat part.
– Box/cable/microphone/earpiece assembly and the flat horizontal part can be mounted left or right of the head.

III: Yavin Hangar Technician:

Hangar Technicians are tasked with operating the ground support equipment in the Rebel Base, as well as directing approaching or departing Starfighters in the Hangar

Required Details
– White or light grey helmet based on a US Navy “MK II Deck Talker Helmet”.
– Helmet has a white, light grey or black combox on the left side.
– Combox is approx. 2 inches (5 cm) x 3 inches (7.5 cm) x 1 inch (2.5 cm) with a bevel on the bottom, contoured to the helmet shell.
– Combox has a raised circular indented detail on its face. Above the circular detail are two (2) raised bumps. Right of the circular detail are 4 (four) vertical raised lines running almost the entire height of the combox face.
– On the top rear of the combox is an antenna, made of metal wire or similar materials to represent metal, about ⅛ inch (3 mm) to 3/16 inch (4.5 mm) in diameter and 6 inches (15 cm) to 8 inches (20 cm) in visible length.
– Helmet has a black chin strap with a white or light grey chin cup.

Signal Baton

Required Details
– Black or dark metal (or similar material) baton, approx. 20 inches (50 cm) long, approx. 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter.
– Top of baton has a conical part made of the same material as the baton.
– On top of the conical part is a yellow, amber or orange signal light.
– Signal batons are used in pairs.
